Palacio Real de la Granja de San Ildefonso, comenzó a construirse en 1721

El palacio es de estilo barroco y está rodeando por extensos jardines de estilo francés y fuentes esculturales. Se le llama también "El pequeño Versailles"The palace is in a restrained baroque style surrounded by extensive gardens in the French manner and sculptural fountains. It is also known as "Little Versailles"

Los jardines tienen 6.1 km2 de extensión y se utilizó el declive natural de las montañas para mejorar la perspectiva visual y para que el agua usada en las 26 fuentes tuviera la suficiente fuerzaThe gardens extend over 6.1 km2, and the designer used the natural slope from the mountains to the palace grounds both as an aid for visual perspective and as a source for sufficient head to make water shoot out of the twenty-six sculptural fountains that decorate the park

Las fuentes están realizadas en plomo para evitar la corrosión del agua, y pintadas simulando el bronceThey fountains are cast in lead to prevent corrosion and painted over to simulate bronze

Actualmente, sólo unas pocas fuentes están activas a diario. Dos veces al año, los días de San Fernando y de San Luis, las 26 fuentes se ponen en funcionamiento, dando lugar a un espectáculo memorableToday, only a few fountains are active each day. Twice a year, on the feast days of San Fernando and San Luis, all twenty-six fountains are set to play, providing a memorable show.
